Penny Cote joined the MIABC Board in 2018 as the appointed Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities (AVICC) Director, serving consecutively on the Governance Committee, Claims Committee, and the Finance Committee. As the AVICC 1st Vice-President, Ms. Cote has been an AVICC Board Member for the past five years.
Ms. Cote has represented the community of Sproat Lake as Director on the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District Board of Directors for the past 16 years. In this role, she has gained considerable knowledge about local government operations and the challenges facing rural and remote communities. Her learned perspective and attributes have supported community partnerships to address her communities’ unique needs.
Serving as co-chair on the Alberni-Clayoquot health Network, Ms. Cote is committed to the health and wellbeing of her community and continually advocates for improved health services with senior levels of government. Ms. Cote also own a heritage commercial, residential property in Port Alberni and partners with her husband in their construction company.
