Liability Insurance

Reduce local government liability risks.

The MIABC’s Liability Insurance Program was established in 1987 as a reciprocal insurance pool, where local governments have agreed to share and cover each other’s losses on a not-for-profit basis as an alternative to private insurance coverage.

The MIABC’s liability insurance protects local governments from claims arising when members of the public are injured, their property is damaged, or they experience an economic loss arising from a local government’s operations. When the local government is sued, the MIABC will step in to assess the claim, provide a defence and possibly settle the claim if we think the claim has merit.
