MIABC Staff Changes

We would like to welcome Samantha Boyce who has recently joined the MIABC’s Legal Department as Legal Counsel. Samantha has an undergraduate degree from Queen's University and is a graduate of the University of Calgary Faculty of Law. She was called to the BC Bar in 2015, having recently completed her articles at Alexander Holburn Beaudin + Lang LLP, where her work focused on litigating a diverse range of insurance issues including a number of MIABC matters. Prior to law school, Samantha was a support worker at a non-profit organization. We are excited that Samantha has joined the MIABC team!

Congratulations to Nicole Purves has been appointed to the newly created role of Deputy Director of Claims. Nicole has extensive experience in the insurance industry, having worked in claims for the past 18 years. She has worked with MIABC as a Claims Examiner since 2008. In her new role, Nicole will assist our Director of Claims and Legal Services, Lindsay Nilsson, in the administration and operation of the Claims Department.

Congratulations to David Tupper who will begin transitioning into a new role as our Claims & Risk Analyst. David Tupper has extensive knowledge and experience from his 24 years working in insurance, 17 of which have been with the MIABC. David has been the Assistant Claims Manager for the last ten years and has handled claims of all types and sizes. He has already spent a number of years assisting the Risk Management Department with his expertise in the identification and assessment of risk. With his background in engineering, David has also been an asset in building regulation matters and has participated in several stake holder groups. In his new role, David will continue to examine our more complex claims and he will lend his extensive skill set to the Member Service Department on a project by project basis.
