Abuse against children and vulnerable adults is alarmingly prevalent in our province. This year, the MIABC has developed resources – including a toolkit and online training – to help local governments take steps to reduce the risk of abuse in their communities.
Our Toolkit and Training
First, the MIABC has created a Children, Young People, and Vulnerable Adults Toolkit to assist members in reducing risk in this area. The Toolkit includes:
- A policy template;
- A procedure template;
- “How to” guides to assist with adoption and implementation of the policy and procedures;
- A tip sheet; and
- A list of online resources relating to the protection of children.
Second, the MIABC now offers free training through Praesidium Academy, an online platform for abuse-prevention training. At no extra cost to the member, the MIABC will provide access to one (Groups A-C) or two (Group D) individuals per member, per year.
